An Ayia Napa quad safari takes riders off the coast road onto dirt tracks around Cape Greco and the farmland inland of the resort, on the south-east tip of Cyprus. Browse other Greece tours and Cyprus days out for more ideas.
This page covers start points, licence and age rules, routes, stops, vehicles, timing, safety, seasons, park rules and what to wear on an Ayia Napa quad safari.
What does an Ayia Napa quad safari include?
An Ayia Napa quad safari includes a quad bike, a helmet, a safety briefing and a qualified leader. Hotel pick-up and drop-off come with it. Sellers also list photo stops and insurance. Food and drinks are not included.
Start with the equipment. Things2doincyprus lists the quad bike and the helmet under all equipment. Everything Ayia Napa says a qualified professional leads its Ayia Napa quad safari. Musement adds an English-speaking leader for all nationalities. Each seller writes its own list, so read yours before you pay.
The day follows a set order on an Ayia Napa quad safari. Love Ayia Napa describes hotel pick-up, a transfer to the quad station and then the ride itself. ChatCyprus ends the day with the return to the station and a drop-off at your hotel. So the whole trip runs from your hotel door back to your hotel door.
Photo stops are part of an Ayia Napa quad safari. ChatCyprus lists them at every location, and Love Ayia Napa promises plenty of photo opportunities. ChatCyprus also lists secure storage for belongings at the quad station. It says to leave valuables at your hotel or in that storage.
Food and drinks are not part of an Ayia Napa quad safari. Things2doincyprus says food, drinks and refreshments are not included. Musement says the same about food and drinks. Musement also tells riders to bring money for extras or gratuities.
Where do the quad safaris start, from Ayia Napa or Protaras?
Hotel pick-up covers both resorts, so you can join an Ayia Napa quad safari from Ayia Napa or Protaras. The operator then takes you to a quad station, where you collect your quad and start the ride.
Pick-up reaches further than the two names suggest. Things2doincyprus lists pick-up in six areas: Ayia Napa, Ayia Thekla, Cape Greco, Protaras, Pernera and Kapparis. It covers hotels, apartments and villas. Hotel guests give the hotel name when they book. Villa guests give a map location or full address.
Protaras sits close enough to join an Ayia Napa quad safari. Wikipedia places Ayia Napa about 10 km southwest of Protaras. It adds that the drive from central Protaras to Cape Greco takes 10 minutes. Wikipedia also calls Protaras quieter than Ayia Napa, with less of a club scene. A hotel in either resort works for this ride.
Things2doincyprus says its quad station stands close to the centre of Ayia Napa. On its Ayia Napa quad safari, the group heads up above the town, then east towards Cape Greco. Everything Ayia Napa and ChatCyprus also send riders to a quad station after pick-up.
You can also go to the start of the Ayia Napa quad safari yourself. Things2doincyprus lets riders make their own way to the quad station and sends directions with the confirmation. Cyprus Easy Book says guests staying outside Ayia Napa and Protaras arrange their own transfer to the starting point. It can offer individual transfers.
Musement files one listing under Protaras, yet its text calls the ride a half-day quad bike ride from Ayia Napa. Cyprus Easy Book and Love Ayia Napa also name both resorts, so the choice of base is yours. Things2doincyprus gives the exact pick-up details in the confirmation.
Do you need a driving licence to ride a quad?
Yes, if you want to drive. Five sellers of an Ayia Napa quad safari ask the driver for a valid licence. Three of them say it must be a full one. A passenger needs no licence.
Provisional licences do not count. Everything Ayia Napa says you must hold a full driving licence to drive a quad bike. Its answer on a provisional licence is a plain no. ChatCyprus agrees that its Ayia Napa quad safari accepts no provisional licence.
ChatCyprus names the licence type. It asks for Category B, which is the ordinary car licence. A photo of the licence on your phone is acceptable there. Other sellers set their own proof rules, so read the page of the seller you book. Musement simply says to bring a valid driving licence.
Proof is part of the check on an Ayia Napa quad safari. Things2doincyprus asks to see the licence on the day. It accepts a photocopy or scan of an EU licence when the number and details are clear. Everything Ayia Napa also wants your passport. Without both documents, you cannot do its safari.
A guest without a licence can still join the ride. ChatCyprus says that person cannot drive but can ride as a passenger with someone who holds a licence. Things2doincyprus says passengers need no licence. So in a group on an Ayia Napa quad safari, only the driver of each quad needs a licence.
What is the minimum age, and can children ride as passengers?
The driver must be 18 or older, and children cannot drive. Passenger limits differ by seller. Musement and ChatCyprus set 6 years for an Ayia Napa quad safari. Cyprus Easy Book sets 7, and Things2doincyprus sets 8.
Everything Ayia Napa takes a different line. Its answers give 18 as the minimum age for a driver. They add that there is no minimum age for a passenger. Booking a young child onto an Ayia Napa quad safari? Check the exact limit on the seller’s page first.
On an Ayia Napa quad safari, a child rides with an adult. ChatCyprus says a child aged 6 or older rides on the back of the quad with a parent or guardian. The driver must be 18 or over with a full licence. Things2doincyprus sends children aged 8 and over on the back under a parent’s or guardian’s supervision.
Musement says an adult over 18 must supervise children at all times on an Ayia Napa quad safari. It books by the quad, not by the person. One ticket covers one quad with a driver alone, or with a driver and a passenger. A parent and child need one ticket.
Love Ayia Napa describes its tour as suited to families with older children. Its page gives no age figure, so ask before you book.
Rentals work differently. The quad rental terms at Cyprus Easy Book ask for drivers aged 18 to 70. Passengers must be at least 12. A child of 7 meets the age rule on an Ayia Napa quad safari at four of these sellers. That child is too young for the rented quad.
Which routes do the quads follow around Cape Greco?
An Ayia Napa quad safari follows one four-stop loop on three seller pages. Love Ayia Napa, things2doincyprus and an older Everything Ayia Napa page all list it. It runs from a hilltop chapel to the coast, into the park and out to a bay lookout.
That loop works like this on an Ayia Napa quad safari. Stop one is a chapel on a hill above the town. Stop two is on the coast. Stop three lies deep in Cape Greco National Park, reached along dirt tracks. The last stop is the Konnos Bay viewpoint, and then the quads return to the quad station.
Other sellers change the order. Musement flips the middle. Its Ayia Napa quad safari goes from the chapel to a viewpoint over Konnos Bay. Then it reaches the clifftop at Cape Greco. The tour closes on the coast, so the bay comes second there, not last.
ChatCyprus and Clubbing Destination finish somewhere else. ChatCyprus makes the Agioi Saranta cave church the final stop of its five on the Ayia Napa quad safari. Clubbing Destination also lists that church last, in a three-hour loop that runs on and off road. Neither ends at the bay.
Another listing promises four to five stops and names three chapels: Agios Epifanios, Agios Fortios and Agios Anargyroi. The park has an official Konnos to Agioi Anargyroi trail, which links two places that these loops name. Stop lists differ, so ask which loop your Ayia Napa quad safari runs.
What do you see from the cliffs and viewpoints?
The hilltop chapel looks over Ayia Napa and over Paliochori, a Byzantine settlement that Arab raids destroyed. The Konnos Bay viewpoint looks down on a pine-fringed beach and very blue sea, says Love Ayia Napa. Both sit on its Ayia Napa quad safari.
Visit Famagusta says the Agios Epiphanios chapel stands on a hilltop, built on the ruins of an older church. Titanas Travel says the view takes in the entire town of Ayia Napa. ChatCyprus adds that the ruins of an ancient Byzantine settlement lie around the chapel on its Ayia Napa quad safari.
On the Ayia Napa quad safari that Love Ayia Napa sells, the second chapel is Ayii Anargoiri. Visit Famagusta says this white chapel sits above a sea cave and honours Saints Cosmas and Damianos. Tradition says the saints survived a storm when their boat washed into the cave below. Love Ayia Napa says you can visit a cave under it.
Musement says its Ayia Napa quad safari stops at Cape Greco, where a dramatic clifftop juts out into the sea. Cyprus Mail says the park’s west-facing cliffs give uninterrupted views across the sea. Commercial.cy adds that the Kavos trail climbs to a hilltop. From there you see the cape, the coastline, the forest park and the waters to the south.
ChatCyprus names the church at the end of its Ayia Napa quad safari as Agioi Saranta. It is a cave church cut into the rock face of Cape Greco. Inside, forty niches are carved into the walls, each for one of the Forty Martyrs of Sebaste. A sacred spring in the cave is believed to have healing properties.
Do the tours stop at the sea caves and the Love Bridge?
Yes for the sea caves, and only on certain routes for the Love Bridge. All six operator pages we checked list the sea caves on an Ayia Napa quad safari. Only two also name the Love Bridge.
Love Ayia Napa sells its ride as a tour of Cape Greco and the Sea Caves area. It lists four stops in order: Agios Epiphanios Chapel, the Sea Caves, Ayii Anargoiri Chapel and Konnos Bay Viewpoint. The Love Bridge is not on that list. Musement, Titanas Travel and the Tripadvisor listing for Adventure Quad Safari Ayia Napa leave it out.
Everything Ayia Napa and ChatCyprus do name the bridge. Everything Ayia Napa lists it among five stops. The others are the Sculpture Park, Konnos Bay Viewpoint, Cape Greco and the Sea Caves. ChatCyprus puts the Love Bridge fourth of five stops on its Ayia Napa quad safari.
The place of the caves in the ride changes by operator. Love Ayia Napa and ChatCyprus put them second, after the first chapel stop. Musement saves them for the end and closes the tour with a look at the caves.
At the caves on an Ayia Napa quad safari, you stop for photos. Love Ayia Napa says they spread over 500 metres and cut into ten metre sea cliffs. Titanas Travel puts you at the edge of the caves, looking down at the water. ChatCyprus lists a photo stop at every location, including the Love Bridge.
So read the stop list before you book an Ayia Napa quad safari. If the Love Bridge matters to you, pick a tour that names it, such as Everything Ayia Napa or ChatCyprus. The sea caves are on every list we found.
Is there a swim stop on an Ayia Napa quad safari?
No. None of the pages we checked lists a swim stop on an Ayia Napa quad safari. ChatCyprus says the tour has photo and sightseeing stops at each location, with no swimming.
Konnos Bay is a lookout on an Ayia Napa quad safari, not a beach stop. Musement gives it a photo opportunity from a viewpoint. Titanas Travel adds a short break for a drink while you look down at the bay. Love Ayia Napa and Everything Ayia Napa both call it a viewpoint.
ChatCyprus also says there is no swimming at the sea caves. It tells riders to plan a separate trip on another day to swim at the caves or at Konnos Bay. Treat an Ayia Napa quad safari as a tour with photo stops, and keep the swim for a different day.
Swim stops belong to the boat trips. Everything Ayia Napa lists a pirate boat day with swimming stops. Its Aphrodite II boat day names the Sea Caves, Cape Greco, Turtle Bay and the Blue Lagoon. Musement lists a fantasy boat party in Ayia Napa with swim stops as well.
If a swim matters to you, ask the operator before you book an Ayia Napa quad safari. Stop lists differ from page to page. Every page we read lists photo stops and viewpoints, and none lists a swim.
Quad, buggy or jeep: which vehicle fits you?
On an Ayia Napa quad safari you steer the vehicle yourself, on a quad or a beach buggy. On a jeep safari a driver does the steering, so you ride along as a passenger.
A quad has a straddle seat and handlebars, like a motorcycle, says Wikipedia. It calls a quad built for a driver and one passenger a tandem ATV. On an Ayia Napa quad safari, Love Ayia Napa lets up to 2 people ride on every quad. Musement sells one ticket per quad, whether a driver rides alone or with a passenger.
Everything Ayia Napa lists a beach buggy for up to 2 people next to its quads. It calls both vehicles very easy to drive. Wikipedia describes a beach buggy as a topless vehicle with large wheels and wide tyres. That page points to a newer website for current details. Ask first whether your Ayia Napa quad safari still offers buggies.
Trackers Excursions runs its jeep safaris in 4×4 Land Rover Defender vehicles, with a driver who leads the tour. It says it picked the Defender to reach off-road places, not for comfort. All its vehicles carry seat belts. Its private jeep tours use a Defender for up to 8 passengers or a Discovery for up to 4.
Choose a jeep over an Ayia Napa quad safari if you want to sit back. Trackers lists a half-day caves trip of 4 hours, plus travel time, along the east coast. It also lists places for children from age 3 to 12 on that trip. Choose the quad or the buggy if you want your hands on the controls.
How powerful are the quads, and are they automatic?
Yes. ChatCyprus says the quads on its Ayia Napa quad safari are automatic and beginner-friendly. It also sets a maximum speed of 35 km/h for the ride.
Wikipedia says sport quads are small, light machines with a manual transmission. ChatCyprus describes the quads of its Ayia Napa quad safari differently. It calls them automatic and very easy to handle. Love Ayia Napa uses the same words, very easy to handle, for its quads. Wikipedia adds that a quad stays steadier than a motorcycle when it moves slowly.
No tour page states an engine size. Wikipedia gives US ATV engine sizes from 49 to 1,000 cc. Love Ayia Napa calls its quads high quality and powerful. One reviewer of an Ayia Napa quad safari found the quad short of power on hills. The views differ, and neither gives a number.
The limit on an Ayia Napa quad safari is clearer than the power claims. ChatCyprus fixes the top speed at 35 km/h for safety. It says its leader controls the group pace throughout. Wikipedia lists up to about 110 km/h for utility quads and about 130 km/h for sport quads.
The tour limit on an Ayia Napa quad safari is far below both figures. A reviewer found the pace fine but wished it were a little faster. Another wrote that a quad stopped with an empty battery and the leader arranged a replacement at once. Pick the quad if you value a steady, controlled ride over speed.
How long does an Ayia Napa quad safari last, and when does it leave?
An Ayia Napa quad safari takes about 3 hours in the listings we checked. Three of them offer both a morning ride and an afternoon ride. Sellers set their own start times, so the clock time depends on who runs your tour.
The length of an Ayia Napa quad safari changes from seller to seller. Musement gives a range of 2 to 4 hours for its half-day ride. Love Ayia Napa calls its Cape Greco ride a 3.5-hour tour. Everything Ayia Napa gives 2.5 to 3 hours.
ChatCyprus counts the total time as up to 3 hours from pickup. A Tripadvisor listing for a buggy and quad safari from Ayia Napa and Protaras also says 3 hours. Musement and Love Ayia Napa both sell the ride as a half-day tour. That fits one ride into a morning or an afternoon.
Here are the start times that sellers publish for an Ayia Napa quad safari.
- ChatCyprus: daily departures at 9:30 am and 2:30 pm.
- A Tripadvisor listing: a morning ride from 10:00 to 13:00 and an afternoon ride from 15:00 to 18:00.
- Love Ayia Napa: morning and afternoon tours.
- Everything Ayia Napa, on an older page: pickup between 09:00 and 09:45, depending on the hotel.
The days differ too. An older Everything Ayia Napa page lists trips on Tuesdays and Fridays, while Love Ayia Napa lists tours every day.
Musement notes that all times are approximate and subject to change. The Tripadvisor listing tells you to check availability for the start time. Confirm the time of your Ayia Napa quad safari after you book.
Is there a sunset quad safari?
No Ayia Napa quad safari we checked leaves at sunset. The listings show morning and afternoon rides only. The latest finish we found is 18:00, about two hours before a midsummer sunset.
Sunrise-sunset.org lists the sunset time in Ayia Napa for every day. These sample dates show where the sun sits against an afternoon Ayia Napa quad safari.
- Around 21 June: 8:01 pm, on a day with about 14 hours 30 minutes of daylight.
- 1 August: 7:46 pm.
- 15 September: 6:51 pm.
- 15 October: 6:09 pm.
A ride that ends at 18:00 finishes before sunset on all four dates. A tour that leaves at 2:30 pm and runs up to 3 hours ends by about 5:30 pm. That is also before sunset, so an afternoon Ayia Napa quad safari is a late-afternoon ride.
In late October the clocks go back. Sunset then comes an hour earlier on the clock. Check the finish time against sunset if the light matters to you.
None of the listings we checked offers a sunrise ride either. The earliest departure listed is 9:30 am. In mid June the sun rises at about 5:30 am, four hours earlier.
The sunset trips on sale around Ayia Napa and Protaras are boat cruises. The titles include a sunset catamaran with a buffet and a 3-hour sunset cruise. Choose one of those for a sunset, and keep the Ayia Napa quad safari for the daytime.
What safety kit and briefing come with the ride?
An Ayia Napa quad safari supplies the quad and a helmet at the quad station. The tour begins with a safety talk, and a lesson on the controls follows. Everything Ayia Napa adds that each rider receives the provided safety gear at the start.
Kit lists differ by seller, so read the list for your Ayia Napa quad safari. At the station, Love Ayia Napa says, you pick up your quad bike and helmet. Things2doincyprus names the quad bike and the helmet as its equipment. Everything Ayia Napa speaks of provided safety gear without naming each item.
Sellers of an Ayia Napa quad safari describe one order. Love Ayia Napa says every tour opens with a thorough safety talk. Next, the qualified professional explains how to ride the quad. Musement lists the helmet as the next step once the leader has finished the briefing. Everything Ayia Napa starts the ride after its short briefing.
A beginner can join. Things2doincyprus says no prior experience is necessary, because a short lesson on driving the quad comes with the safety briefing. ChatCyprus says a first-timer gets a driving lesson at the quad station. Nobody needs to know the controls before an Ayia Napa quad safari starts.
Riders take on duties too. Musement says a waiver form must be signed before the tour. Love Ayia Napa says riders answer for their own actions. Things2doincyprus asks riders to follow the leader’s safety advice and keep to the leader’s route. It ends the excursion of anyone who ignores instructions on its Ayia Napa quad safari.
What insurance and damage rules apply?
Everything Ayia Napa and Things2doincyprus list third-party insurance in their packages for an Ayia Napa quad safari. Things2doincyprus adds a Super Collision Damage Waiver. Damage rules differ by seller, so ask what you pay if the quad is harmed. GOV.UK also asks you to use licensed, insured operators.
Packages differ in detail. ChatCyprus lists insurance with the briefing and the equipment in its package, without naming the type. Everything Ayia Napa answers its insurance question with a plain yes for third-party cover. Things2doincyprus lists the same cover plus the waiver. Each seller of an Ayia Napa quad safari sets its own list.
GOV.UK warns about quad hire. It says hire companies give third-party cover only as a rule. The hirer must pay for any damage to the vehicle. Non-payment can lead to arrest. GOV.UK calls a passport deposit illegal. That warning covers hire, so ask your Ayia Napa quad safari seller which damage you pay for.
Where you book decides who answers a claim. Love Ayia Napa lists tours but runs none. Its terms send claims for injury, loss or damage to the supplier’s own insurance. The site provides no public liability or personal injury insurance. Full supplier terms come on request, so ask before you pay a deposit for an Ayia Napa quad safari.
Before you ride an Ayia Napa quad safari, check your own cover. The sport needs to appear by name on a travel policy, says GOV.UK. Another GOV.UK page says a policy does not cover quad bike use or hire as a rule. Things2doincyprus cancels a trip without refund if a rider arrives under the influence of alcohol.
In which months do the quad safaris run?
An Ayia Napa quad safari runs every day from April to October, with a morning tour and an afternoon tour. In winter, one operator’s listing keeps only the morning tour and runs it from Monday to Saturday.
That calendar comes from a Cyprus activity shop that sells the Cape Greco quad tour. Other sellers print their own dates. An older Everything Ayia Napa page, for example, says its quad and buggy safaris run until the end of September. Check the calendar of the Ayia Napa quad safari you book.
Weather figures show how different the two ends of the season feel. Ayia Napa averages a daytime high of 23°C in April and 27°C in October, says weather2travel. January falls to 16°C. A winter Ayia Napa quad safari meets cooler air, and December is the wettest month, with 101 mm of rain.
Heavy rain stops the tour in any month. The shop’s listing says part of the off-road route cannot be used when it is very wet. The operator then offers a new date or a refund. In July, weather2travel counts one rainy day and 0 mm of rain. That is a dry month for an Ayia Napa quad safari.
Book early for the busy months. The shop’s listing asks for at least 2 days’ notice in June, July and August. In the quieter months, you can book 24 hours ahead. ChatCyprus says the Ayia Napa quad safari fills up fast in July and August, especially the morning session.
How hot and dusty does the ride get?
An Ayia Napa quad safari in July or August meets average daytime highs of 32°C and 33°C. The sun shines for about 12 hours a day, and the red off-road tracks turn dusty in dry weather.
The sun is strong too. On an Ayia Napa quad safari in June or July, the UV index reaches 11, which weather2travel labels extreme. August scores 10, labelled very high. Nights stay warm, at 22°C in both July and August.
ChatCyprus tells riders to choose the morning session in July and August, because it is cooler than the afternoon. It adds that the light is better for photos then. The morning is the milder start to an Ayia Napa quad safari in peak summer.
A hot day can run far above the averages. Wikipedia’s Larnaca page lists top temperatures of 41.1°C in July and 40.9°C in August at Larnaka Airport. The same table gives average humidity of 67% in July. Wikipedia describes the climate there as hot semi-arid, with low yearly rainfall.
Dust comes with dry weather. ChatCyprus says the off-road parts of Cape Greco are red dirt tracks. In dry weather, it calls the dust significant. The shop’s listing says the tour can be dusty and dirty. Weather2travel sums up Ayia Napa as having hot dry summers. Expect that dust on a summer Ayia Napa quad safari.
The NHS gives plain rules for hot days. Drink more cold drinks when you are active, and avoid the sun between 11am and 3pm. Both rules fit a summer Ayia Napa quad safari.
What rules apply to vehicles in Cape Greco National Forest Park?
The Forestry Department runs Cape Greco National Forest Park. An Ayia Napa quad safari crosses it on dirt tracks, paths and roads. The tour leader sets the route and the pace, so you ride where the leader rides.
Each operator writes its own riding rules for an Ayia Napa quad safari. ChatCyprus lists two: follow the leader at all times, and keep to a top speed of 35 km/h. Its page adds that the leader controls the group pace throughout.
The park adds its own rules for drivers. An article on Kiprinform says to park only where permitted and not to drive off-road to cut corners. It also says not to block the barrier or the emergency access, and not to go past a closed sign.
The cape’s own road has a speed limit too. A Cape Greco visitor site says scooters and all-terrain vehicles must keep to 40 km/h there. The 35 km/h cap that ChatCyprus lists for an Ayia Napa quad safari sits below that limit.
Riderly notes that Cyprus drives on the left. That matters on the road sections of an Ayia Napa quad safari. Love Ayia Napa describes the route as a mix of dirt tracks, paths and roads.
The park is also protected land. Forest rules on Cyprus Island ban cutting plants, harassing nests and damaging the environment. Wikipedia adds that BirdLife International names the area an Important Bird Area. The cape is a key migration site for raptors and other birds.
The same park holds a picnic site, a kiosk and parking areas, Cyprus Island reports. It also has a bike path of 4 kilometres, a nature trail of 16 kilometres and a trail for horses. So an Ayia Napa quad safari is one of the park’s visitor activities, and the park’s rules cover it.
Which villages and inland tracks do the routes cross?
The Cape Greco route of an Ayia Napa quad safari heads east above Ayia Napa on dirt tracks. Operators list chapels, caves and viewpoints as stops, not villages. One operator, Agia Napa Holiday, sells a second trail through the red villages.
A Things2DoInCyprus listing says the group leaves the centre of Ayia Napa. It heads up above the town and then east towards Cape Greco. Everything Ayia Napa says its riders head on and off road towards the park “and beyond”.
The tracks on an Ayia Napa quad safari are plain country ground. Love Ayia Napa describes the unspoilt countryside of the district around Ayia Napa and Protaras. ChatCyprus calls the off-road sections of Cape Greco red dirt tracks. Two booking pages say heavy rain stops the tour, because part of the route cannot be passed when wet.
The red villages trail is the inland choice on an Ayia Napa quad safari. Agia Napa Holiday says riders on it watch locals going about their daily business. Its page does not name the villages.
Love Ayia Napa’s village page calls the villages near Ayia Napa the Kokkinochoria, the red soil villages. It names Paralimni, Deryneia, Sotira, Frenaros and Liopetri. Their centres lie from around 7 to around 16 kilometres from Ayia Napa. No page says which villages a group enters. Ask which route your Ayia Napa quad safari takes before you book.

Private tour or group convoy: which fits you?
Pick a private Ayia Napa quad safari when your party needs four or more quads. ChatCyprus says such groups book a private run on any day, with their own tour leader and pace. Smaller parties join the scheduled group tour.
Everything Ayia Napa sets the same line for a private Ayia Napa quad safari. Its page allows one for groups that hire more than three vehicles. It lists scheduled trips on Tuesdays and Fridays, and a private run is not tied to those days. Both sellers take group questions by WhatsApp message.
ChatCyprus names the groups that book private runs: stag dos, hen parties, birthday groups and corporate events. A private Ayia Napa quad safari gives them a leader of their own. Send your date and group size with your first message. Both sellers ask for bookings at least 24 hours ahead, so the party can pick its day.
The scheduled tour is the group convoy. You ride with other guests, and ChatCyprus tells every rider to follow the leader at all times. It says the leader controls the pace of the group throughout. A group Ayia Napa quad safari therefore suits riders who like a set pace.
Solo riders and pairs fit the group tour well. Love Ayia Napa calls its ride suitable for groups of friends, couples, singles and families with older children. Each quad takes up to 2 people there.
Musement sells one ticket per quad, for one driver or a driver with a passenger. Its listing names an English-speaking leader for all nationalities, so the group tour runs in English.
- Four or more quads, or a wish for your own pace: book a private Ayia Napa quad safari.
- One to three quads: join the scheduled group tour.
- Travelling alone: the group tour is the way in.
Do the tours include hotel pick-up?
Yes. Love Ayia Napa, ChatCyprus and Everything Ayia Napa each include hotel pick-up from Ayia Napa and Protaras. The last two add the drop-off. Every Ayia Napa quad safari from these sellers starts with a transfer to the quad station.
After the pick-up, the transfer takes you to the quad station. Love Ayia Napa says you collect your quad and helmet there. ChatCyprus says the ride ends back at the station, and then a drop-off returns you to your hotel. Everything Ayia Napa states that transfers to and from your hotel come with its Ayia Napa quad safari booking.
Pick-up times for an Ayia Napa quad safari depend on your hotel. Everything Ayia Napa lists a pick-up between 09:00 and 09:45. ChatCyprus puts the pick-up 30 to 45 minutes before the tour starts. Musement notes that all times are approximate and subject to change, so confirm your slot after booking.
Check what your seller covers before you pay for an Ayia Napa quad safari. The pages name only hotels in Ayia Napa and Protaras. ChatCyprus lists hotel pick-up and drop-off among its inclusions. It also says it sorts the pick-up time when you book through it. Ask for that time in your confirmation.
What do you wear and bring on an Ayia Napa quad safari?
Wear closed shoes and clothes you do not mind getting dusty on an Ayia Napa quad safari. Pack sunglasses, sunscreen, a bandana or scarf, and your driving licence. ChatCyprus gives this exact list for the ride.
Dress for dirt, not for style, on an Ayia Napa quad safari. ChatCyprus calls the off-road sections dusty and bumpy and tells riders to wear nothing they care about. A tour listing for the ride also recommends closed shoes, so leave the sandals at your hotel.
Wanderlog’s notes add two tips for the dust. Cover your mouth with a bandana or buff. Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes while you ride. Sunscreen is on the ChatCyprus list too, so pack it with the rest.
Paperwork matters as much as clothing on an Ayia Napa quad safari. Everything Ayia Napa asks riders to bring a passport as well as a driving licence. It says guests who cannot show both are unable to do the safari.
ChatCyprus lists a photo stop at every location. Take your phone for those. Leave other valuables at your hotel or in the secure storage at the quad station.
Food and drinks are not included, and Musement tells riders to bring money for extras or gratuities. One tour listing adds that the route has stops where you can buy cold water and fresh juice. Ask your operator whether its route has those stops before you pack drinks for an Ayia Napa quad safari.
Who is an Ayia Napa quad safari not suited to?
An Ayia Napa quad safari does not suit expectant mothers, guests with back problems, wheelchairs or families with small children. Musement lists these four groups as unsuitable on its tour page for the ride.
Start with health. Musement says the tour is not suitable for expectant mothers or guests with back problems. ChatCyprus calls the off-road sections bumpy. If either point fits you, ask your doctor before you book.
Wheelchairs are on the Musement list too. A booking page for the Cape Greco tour says it is not wheelchair accessible. Musement adds that height, weight or age restrictions can apply. A second tour listing says the same. Ask the operator for the exact limits before you book an Ayia Napa quad safari.
Families need a closer look before an Ayia Napa quad safari. Love Ayia Napa says its tour suits groups of friends, couples, singles and families with older children. Musement rules out families with small children.
Rules differ by operator. Wanderlog calls the pace of the Ayia Napa Quad Adventure Safari suitable for families with children. Read the rules of your operator and match them to the youngest rider in your group.
Anyone who arrives after drinking is a poor fit for an Ayia Napa quad safari. A booking page for the Cape Greco tour says the trip is cancelled with no refund. That applies if you arrive under the influence of alcohol or in no fit state to drive.
Riders who want to set their own speed are a poor fit too. The same page says riders must stick to the route the tour leader takes, and ignoring instructions ends the excursion. ChatCyprus says the leader controls the group pace throughout.
What else is there to do after the ride in Ayia Napa?
Rinse off the dust at a beach. Ayia Napa has 27 beaches, and 14 of them hold a Blue Flag, says Wikipedia. After an Ayia Napa quad safari, try Nissi Beach, which stretches for 500 metres.
Nissi Beach takes its name from a small islet close to the coast. Wikipedia says you can reach the uninhabited islet on foot through the shallow water. The beach offers water-skiing and windsurfing, and two beach volleyball courts are open to the public.
